Navy Federal Credit Union statement to CSV

Drop the Navy Federal Credit Union PDF as you downloaded it. It is converted on your computer, and we check every row against the running balance and check that the rows carry the opening balance to the closing one. Then download it for your accounting software or a spreadsheet.

Getting the PDF out of Navy Federal Credit Union

  1. In online banking, select Statements.
  2. Open the Account Statements drop-down menu and choose Checking & Savings.
  3. Browse the statements by date and click View.

In the mobile app, the same statements are under More, then Account & Tax Statements.

Navy Federal’s tutorial is written for its digital banking as a whole. A business membership signs in with business credentials of its own, separate from the owner’s personal ones, and the business pages don’t say whether the menus differ.

Up to 36 months of statements are kept for you to view or print. Copies of older ones can be requested through Online Banking or on 1-888-842-6328, for a fee per copy.

What a Navy Federal Credit Union statement looks like, and what we do with it

One Statement of Account covers the business’s deposit accounts together. A Summary of your deposit accounts sets out each account’s Previous Balance, Deposits/Credits, Withdrawals/Debits, Ending Balance and YTD Dividends, and then each account has its own table, checking first, headed Date, Transaction Detail, Amount($) and Balance($). Rows run oldest first between a Beginning Balance and an Ending Balance, every row with the balance after it, and an account with nothing to show prints No Transactions This Period between the two.

Each account in the statement is headed by its type and then its number after a dash, as "Business Checking - " and ten digits, with no account number label.
We split the statement at each heading, so each account opens on its own, even where the second one opens on the balance the first closed on.
Money in and money out share the one Amount($) column, and money out carries a minus after the figure rather than before it. An overdrawn balance is printed the same way.
We read the trailing minus as money out or as overdrawn, and check every row against the Balance($) beside it.
Each account’s table opens on a dated Beginning Balance and ends on an Ending Balance, followed by its Average Daily Balance and an Items Paid list of dates, item types and amounts.
We read no rows from the Items Paid list, since each item is already a row of the table, and check the rows carry the Beginning Balance to the Ending Balance.
The Summary of your deposit accounts gives each account’s Deposits/Credits and Withdrawals/Debits, and a Totals line across them all.
We do not yet compare our totals with that table, so a Navy Federal statement is held to its running balance and its closing balance instead.
Rows are dated "03-08" with no year, beneath a Statement Period such as "03/01/24 - 03/31/24", and a card purchase carries the day it was made inside its description, after "POS Debit- Business Debit Card" and the card’s last digits, as "03-06-24".
We date each row by the day it posted and keep the purchase date in the description. Every account takes its year from the Statement Period, including the savings and any second checking account further down, which print no period of their own.

What this page is based on

Three combined statements from two businesses, from 2019, 2020 and 2024, each holding a Business Checking account with its savings and one of them a second checking account: seven accounts in all. Every account was split out, matched row by row against its Balance($), and carried from its Beginning Balance to its Ending Balance, including a savings account with no transactions and a checking account that began the month overdrawn. The two from the same business are nine months apart, so no consecutive months were joined.

Business Plus Checking, Business Premium Checking, the business Money Market Savings Account and the GO BIZ Rewards Visa card are not covered, and neither is a personal membership’s statement, such as Free EveryDay Checking or Flagship Checking.

Once it is converted, the import steps for each accounting package are the same for every bank.

Questions

How far back can I download Navy Federal statements?

Three years. Navy Federal keeps up to 36 months of statements to view or print, and its business welcome kit promises business members the same 36 months. Anything older has to be requested as a copy, which Navy Federal sends you for a fee, so download each month while it is still within reach.

Is the YTD Dividends figure on my Navy Federal statement exported?

No. YTD Dividends is a column of the Summary of your deposit accounts, the year’s dividends so far, and not a transaction. The month’s own dividend is a Dividend row in the account’s table, with its balance beside it, and that row is exported like any deposit.

The first page ends in a deposit voucher. Does any of it get read?

No. The DEPOSIT VOUCHER is a slip for mailing a deposit, listing each account by number and type with an empty AMOUNT ENCLOSED box. It has no dates or amounts, so it gives no rows, and every account we tested reconciled with it in place.

Privacy, scans and price work the same for every bank, and the home page answers them.
