Bank statements,ready to import.

Drop a PDF. Every row is checked against the balances your bank printed, before you download it.

How each row is checked

Each amount is added to the balance before it and compared with the balance the statement prints beside it. In these 4 of a statement’s 24 rows, the third amount is misread on purpose: read as 142.18, it brings the balance to 3,193.22, where the statement prints 3,235.40.

1 of 24 rows doesn’t match the running balance.

Money in, money out and the closing balance are also checked against the totals the statement prints, which finds a row missed entirely.

A failed check holds the download and names the row.

Questions

Is my statement uploaded anywhere?

No. The statement is read in your browser, on your computer. Nothing in it is sent to us or to anyone else.

Which banks does it work with?

Any bank whose statement has a date column and an amount column. The converter reads the columns on the page, not a template for each bank. We have tested 40 banks in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Canada, United States and Netherlands on real statements, and each bank’s page says what we found.

Does it handle scanned statements?

Yes, as a PDF, JPG, PNG or WebP. The text is read off the picture by OCR in your browser, and the file never leaves your computer. The first scan takes longer while the reader loads. OCR can misread a figure, so a scan is checked like any other statement. If it prints no running balance, no totals and no closing balance, nothing can check the figures, so the download is held as it is for a failed check, and you look the figures over first. A date misread within the statement period passes every check, so a date OCR was unsure of is marked for you to compare with the scan. A PDF downloaded from online banking is more reliable than a scan. More about scanned statements.

What can I export?

Excel and CSV for a spreadsheet. Xero CSV for Xero. QBO or the QuickBooks CSV for QuickBooks. OFX for MYOB. QIF for Quicken, and a QIF with its dates day first for Reckon. Twinfield CSV for Twinfield. MT940 for accounting software that reads it, as much of it in the Netherlands and Germany does. The Sage, FreeAgent and Wave CSVs for those packages, and a CSV in a layout you set for anything else. How to import each one is on its own page.

Is it free, and do I need an account?

Excel and CSV are free for a whole statement at a time, with no limit on how many. Premium adds every other format, a CSV in a layout of your own, payee names with rules that set the payee and category, the working paper, part of a statement, several statements joined into one, and downloading every open statement at once. Neither needs an account: Premium is a licence key, which you paste into the page or activate from the email it comes in, and your browser keeps it. The pricing page lists each format and the price.

Correcting a row, several statements at once, the history and cancelling Premium are answered on the questions page.
