Lloyds statement to CSV

Drop the Lloyds PDF as you downloaded it. It is converted on your computer, and we check every row against the running balance and compare the totals with the ones Lloyds printed. Then download it for your accounting software or a spreadsheet.

Getting the PDF out of Lloyds

  1. Log in to Online for Business and select Transactions underneath the account you want.
  2. In Statement options, select Monthly PDFs.
  3. Download the statement you need.

Lloyds is redesigning Online for Business from June 2026, so you may see either layout. In the older one, Monthly PDFs is under Statement options too.

A paper-free account’s statements arrive as PDFs in the Digital Inbox, behind the envelope icon on the Account Overview, and stay there for 10 years.

A View-Only User can download previous statements but can’t carry out any actions, a level Lloyds suggests for admin or accounting.

From Lloyds’s own help: Get a paper statement, Go paper-free, Managing Online for Business access.

What a Lloyds statement looks like, and what we do with it

Money In and Money Out for the period sit above the table on the left, the Balance on its first and last days on the right. The Your Transactions table is headed Date, Description, Type, Money In (£), Money Out (£) and Balance (£), dates read 14 Mar 25, rows run oldest first, and every row carries a bare balance. Each page closes with Lloyds’ key to its transaction types.

Many transactions spread over three lines in the description column: the payee above, the date, type and amounts in the middle, the reference below. A short one fits on the dated line alone.
We join all three into one row, payee first, with the type code at the end.
The page is tagged for screen readers, with hidden labels and a full stop after each cell, printed a twentieth of a point high.
We ignore text too small to see, so each date and each amount reads without the stop hidden after it.
When the first day has a transaction, the Balance on the period’s first day, printed above the table, is the balance after it, not before.
We take the opening back past that transaction, and the statement’s own Money In and Money Out then reach its closing balance.
A fee’s payee line reads "SERVICE CHARGES REF :", which could pass for a section heading.
We keep it as the fee’s description, because it sits in the description column.

What this page is based on

Four one-month statements from parish councils, three headed COMMUNITY ACCOUNT and one headed with the council’s own name, from 2023 and 2025. Every row reconciled against its printed balance, and each statement’s Money In and Money Out matched our totals, two of them with nothing paid in. One covers only the first twelve days of its month, ending the day it was printed. All four are different accounts, so consecutive Lloyds months have not been joined yet.

Lloyds personal accounts such as Club Lloyds, the Business Credit Card and Business Charge Card, and statements from Commercial Banking Online, Lloyds’ service for larger businesses, have not been through the parser.

Once it is converted, the import steps for each accounting package are the same for every bank.

Questions

Should I use Monthly PDFs or the statement in the Digital Inbox?

Lloyds’ Online for Business functionality guide calls Monthly PDFs a monthly PDF transaction summary, and the Digital Inbox PDF copies of your bank statements. We can’t tell which route our tested statements came by. Either reads the same way if it has the Your Transactions table described above, and a row that disagrees with its balance turns red.

Online for Business already exports a CSV. Why start from the PDF?

For recent months the export may do: Lloyds’ help puts Export transactions (CSV, QIF) under Statement options and its transaction search reaches back 12 months. Paper-free statements stay in the Digital Inbox for 10 years, so an older month comes from the PDF, checked row by row against Lloyds’ printed balance.

What do FPO, BP and BGC mean on a Lloyds statement?

They are Lloyds’ transaction types, and the key is printed at the foot of every page: FPO is Faster Payment Out, BP Bill Payments, BGC Bank Giro Credit, DD Direct Debit. We keep the code at the end of each description, so it reaches your CSV or accounting file, and clean payee names leave it off.

Our account had no payments out one month. Should there be a statement?

Not necessarily. Lloyds’ General Conditions say it may not issue a statement when nothing has gone out of the account, though it sends one at least once a year. So a gap in a year of months may be one Lloyds never issued, not one you lost.

Privacy, scans and price work the same for every bank, and the home page answers them.
