Bank of America statement to CSV

Drop the Bank of America PDF as you downloaded it. It is converted on your computer, and we compare the totals with the ones Bank of America printed and check that the rows carry the opening balance to the closing one. Then download it for your accounting software or a spreadsheet.

Getting the PDF out of Bank of America

  1. Log in to Small Business Online Banking (Business Advantage 360).
  2. Select the Statements & Documents tab for the account.
  3. Download, save or print the PDF.

Small Business Online Banking keeps 18 months of checking and savings statements, each an electronic copy of the paper one. For an older month, its Help & Support menu offers Order copies of account statements.

Under account management in Business Advantage 360, an owner can add trusted employees or an accountant as users with their own access, and Bank of America’s Business Services Addendum lets a user be allowed to view statements for the accounts chosen.

Paperless statements are switched on under Profile & Settings, then Paperless settings.

What a Bank of America statement looks like, and what we do with it

Page one is an Account summary running from the beginning balance through Deposits and other credits, Withdrawals and other debits, Checks and Service fees to the ending balance, with counts of items beside them. Page two is notices, and the transactions start under "Your checking account" in sections with Date, Description and Amount, each date written in full, 05/05/25, oldest first. A Daily ledger balances table follows, and the last page or four can be empty but for "This page intentionally left blank".

Money out carries a leading minus, both on each row of Withdrawals and other debits and on its line in the Account summary.
We read each as money out, and compare our money in and money out with the Account summary.
Debit card purchases are grouped under "Card account # XXXX XXXX XXXX" and closed by "Subtotal for card account", inside Withdrawals and other debits.
We read the purchases as withdrawals and export neither the card line nor its subtotal.
A card purchase names the day it was made as four digits after CHECKCARD or PURCHASE, month then day, which can be days before the date it posted.
We date the row by the posting date in the Date column and keep the purchase day in the description.
An electronic credit is set out in fields, DES:, ID:, INDN:, CO ID: and the entry type, and wraps onto a second line.
We join both lines into one description, the fields in the order printed.
Below the transactions, Daily ledger balances runs three Date and Balance ($) pairs to a line.
We skip that table, so no day’s balance is read as a transaction.

What this page is based on

Three monthly statements from three nonprofits: two on Business Advantage Fundamentals Banking, from 2021 and 2025, and one on Business Advantage Checking from 2015 that covers only the last three days of a month and opens on a zero balance, a new account’s first statement. Every one agreed with the totals in its Account summary, and its rows, netted, moved the beginning balance onto the ending one. They are short statements, one to thirteen transactions each, with Zelle payments, mobile deposits, card purchases and ACH credits among them, but no paid checks.

Business Advantage Relationship Banking and the personal Bank of America Advantage Banking accounts are not covered here, nor are the Business Advantage credit cards or anything exported from CashPro Online. Full Analysis Business Checking is a case of its own, taken up in the questions below.

Once it is converted, the import steps for each accounting package are the same for every bank.

Questions

My account is Full Analysis Business Checking. Does this page cover it?

No. We opened one, and its rows did not yet add up to the totals it prints, so it is not among the statements behind this page. Yours may still come out right; the totals check on screen will say so either way.

Why convert a PDF when Bank of America syncs with QuickBooks?

For recent months you may not need to. Bank of America says its online banking holds 12 months of transactions, synced with QuickBooks Online or downloaded to QuickBooks Desktop. Before that, the statement is the record that is left, and other software, or a spreadsheet, needs a file of its own. The PDF also carries the Account summary, the figures that prove the conversion added up.

Do Zelle payments keep the name and the memo?

Yes. Bank of America prints "Zelle payment from" or "Zelle payment to" with the name, then the memo in quotes and a Conf# reference, sometimes wrapped onto a second line. We join the lines, so the description holds all of it. With clean payee names, a payment received comes out with the sender’s name as its payee.

Privacy, scans and price work the same for every bank, and the home page answers them.
